Ken Caryl & North Ranch:

The planned community of Ken Caryl is located just 18 miles southwest of downtown Denver and was originally formed in 1970 by The John Manville Corporation. This is one of the most desirable locations to live in the entire Denver metro area. The subdivision of North Ranch is nestled just inside the Dakota Ridge and is also known as the hogback. These gorgeous homes were built on large lots and many of them back to amazing open space and few even feature stunning 30-foot sandstone rock outcroppings. Other residents of North Ranch are treated daily to fantastic views of Denver’s downtown twinkling city lights. Besides the picturesque setting of the foothills is the convenience of C-470 that also makes living here so desirable. The main highway artery sweeps right outside the hogback making an easy commute to downtown or to head west into the mountains for some high county sports activity. Regardless if your looking for a townhouse in the $200,000’s or your looking for a custom built home that stretches well over a million you’ll find what your looking for and more here in North Ranch!

An attraction inside North Ranch is the 8,000 square foot home known as the Manor House. This 1914 built mansion was constructed at a cost of $100,000 and was the home of Mr. John Shaffer, who was the owner of the Rocky Mountain Newspaper during that time. Mr. Shaffer named the ranch after his two sons Kent and Carroll and simply evolved into Ken Caryl. Today, the six bedroom, four bath home is a landmark restaurant but at one time was used to entertain worldwide dignitaries and presidents including Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft. A wide variety of wildlife has been spotted at one time or another roaming the 6,000-acre open space including deer, turkeys, coyotes, grouse, elk, and the occasional mountain lion and even black bears.

And if you’re into horses you’ll find an equestrian center for your horse and miles of trails for you and your four legged friend.

Just outside of North Ranch and east of C-470 there are a number of other subdivisions that you may find attractive as well. Meadow Ranch is a small gated community that features both single family homes as well as townhomes. These newer construction properties were built in early 2000 and intertwine with the Deer Creek Golf Course. The single family homes range in price from $ to $ and the townhomes range from $ to $ .
